Vegas to Vail Route

Hey road-trippers!

Let’s talk about the second rally route that we’ve created. This route was super fun to create, as I’ve been to quite a few of these places already on previous road-trips! We’re heading from Vegas to Vail, and ending in Evergreen, Colorado, just in time for the Adventure Van Expo there. We made sure to include one of the coolest places I’ve seen on this route – Antelope Canyon, we know you’re going to love it!

Kickoff in Las Vegas

We’re kicking off the start of the trip in Las Vegas! If you’re flying in and renting your vehicle, Las Vegas has lots of flights going in and out each day, so you’ll be all good there. Take a walk down the strip, check out some of the incredible restaurants, and spend some time at a casino if that’s your thing! We’ll have registration this evening, with the chance for you to meet the other road-trippers attending the rally, eat some food, and hangout.

Day 1: Vegas to Phoenix, Arizona

Our first stop of the trip that we’re heading to is Phoenix, Arizona. When heading to Phoenix, we recommend you take the route that is a little longer, and get to experience the iconic Route 66. Hitting Route 66 around the Kingman area is your best bet! Once you make it to Phoenix, check out Old Town Scottsdale, South Mountain for hiking (make sure you start early with the heat), and the Phoenix Zoo. If you are looking to get your van upfitted, check out Little Dealer, Little Prices when here

Day 2: Phoenix to Sedona

Just a couple hours north of Phoenix is home to the Red Rocks of Sedona. This is a hiker’s paradise, with incredible hiking of all different levels. Some of my favorites include: Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, and Faye Canyon. Take a stroll in Uptown Sedona and make sure you try at least one thing Prickly Pear! Check out the shops of Tlaquepaque, Chapel of the Holy Cross, and restaurants with incredible views. Sedona is one of my favorite places, and I’m sure you’ll love it too!

Day 3: Sedona to Grand Canyon

The iconic Grand Canyon. Of course we had to include it in our Adventure Van Rally! The Grand Canyon is truly something you must see at least once in your life. Spend some time thinking about which hikes you are interested in doing, and what is on your bucket list for the Grand Canyon. If you’ve already been there and don’t feel the need to head that way, I’d personally spend another day in Sedona OR head up to Page and go to Lake Powell!

Day 4: Grand Canyon to Page

Our next stop is one that I recommend everyone goes to! Page, Arizona is a fantastic base to see Horseshoe Bend, Glen Canyon Dam, Antelope Canyon, and Lake Powell. Antelope Canyon is an underground canyon system that is truly, truly incredible. Tours to go down into the canyons book up quickly, so I would recommend you do that now. We did a tour of the Lower Canyon years ago, and to this day it is still one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen! Lake Powell is also incredible – rent some kayaks or even a boat, and you will have the perfect summer day.

Day 5: Page to Moab, Utah

Next, we are heading up to Moab, Utah! On your way, check out Monument Valley for some epic views. Moab is central to so many great hiking spots, along with two National Parks: Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park. Once you arrive, check out one of the parks for the day/evening, and the next morning wake up early and check out the other one before you head onto your next stop!

Day 6: Moab to Vail, Colorado

We’re heading off to the Rocky Mountains next! Once you’ve spent as much time as you would like at the National Parks near Moab, drive over through Colorado to Vail. Known for its amazing skiing and quaint town center, Vail is a popular destination not only in the winter, but year round. Check out some of the summer activities in Vail including: hiking, fly fishing, golf, and hiking through the mountains!

Day 7: Vail to Evergreen

Our final destination of the trip is Evergreen, located just outside of Denver. Here we’ll have a cook out, and say our final goodbyes (for now!) to all of the people we’ve met on the trip. If you’re flying out, the Denver airport is just a short drive away, BUT, if you are able to stay for the weekend, we will be at the Adventure Van Expo in Evergreen that Saturday and Sunday!

I am SO excited for this route to come to life this July and to meet all the people who are coming with us on this Adventure Van Rally. See you soon!
